    The West Hollywood Youth Activities League center was able to improve its programs recently with the help of the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation and Guitar Center. The center had started a guitar class this year, but with only “one or two rickety guitars” on hand, not many children could be involved, Deputy Sean Ruiz said.     Despite dark clouds over the Santa Clarita Valley, the inaugural Sheriff’s Shootout at The Tournament Players Club on April 15 was a shining success, netting more than $125,000 for the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation.     The Sheriff’s Youth Foundation announced the hiring of Dr. Kathleen Van Antwerp as its new Program Director, bringing a new element to the nonprofit organization’s mission to help at-risk children throughout Los Angeles County.
