Robert J. Irmas was a Deputy Sheriff Reserve who passed away in January 2015. After the LA riots, Rob recognized the need for safe havens and enrichment centers that would keep youth at risk of gang violence and poor educational, social and health outcomes off the streets and engaged in sports, leadership and academic programs. Rob Irmas was the visionary of our South Los Angeles Youth Activity Center and spearheaded the team that secured the site, refurbished the building and funded the project. As a significant donor, the building was dedicated and named “The Audrey and Sidney Irmas Youth Activity Center.”
As a legacy to Rob Irmas’ years of dedication to our mission and in recognition of his endless commitment to the at-risk youth we serve, the Irmas family pledged $1 million to the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation to support our youth leadership and enrichment programs by establishing the Robert J. Irmas Youth Leadership and Enrichment Fund. In recognition of their generous and meaningful gift, we have renamed the building “The Robert J. Irmas Youth Activity Center” in his memory and honor.
